RULES FOR INTERNAL COMPETITIONS
Each member is allowed a maximum of three entries in each monthly competition. This can either be 2 prints and 1 DPI OR
1 Print and 2 DPIs – The choice is yours! This will be monitored and should entry numbers be generally low, in either section,
then the number of entries per author may be increased.
Marks are not awarded in the competitions, instead there are 1st, 2nd and 3rd places and a maximum of three Highly Commended
images in both print and DPI section.
All prints are to be mounted on stif board.
Mounts must be a Max of 20” (508 mm) x 16” (406 mm) & Min of 19.7” (500 mm) x 15.75” (400 mm) and have a print title
and membership number only, clearly shown on the reverse side of the mount.
Scanned transparencies may also be entered in the DPI section, as digital fles. Members unable to scan slides are asked to make
this known to the competition secretary, who will advise on the appropriate steps for this to be carried out.
A digital fle must be produced of each print and DPI entry. This must be in .jpg format and in sRGB colour space and sized at a
maximum of 1600 pixels wide or 1200 pixels high.
File naming must conform strictly to the following format :
Membership No._ Title.jpg for example : 42_My Entry.jpg
You may enter an ‘N’ (Novice) after your membership number if you feel your photography is not at a stage you would like. It
will inform the judge of your skill level only for the purposes of feedback and constructive comments.
For example : 42N_My Entry.jpg
All fles must be supplied on a USB fash drive , disc or emailed to the competition secretary (firstname.lastname@example.org). They must be
placed in separate folders for Print & DPI and must be received not later than the competition entry date. Entries are likely to be
withdrawn if fles are received late, wrongly named or wrongly sized.
Images that are produced by any digital means and submitted for entry will only be accepted providing that no other person’s work
appears in that image and, if proof is required, then either the original fle from the camera without any subsequent modifcation
or manipulation, or the original negative/transparency should be made available.
No print or digital fle should display a member’s name. Metadata information will be erased from all entries.
Prints or digital fles that have previously been in a Gallery competition, either internal or external, shall not be entered into
